Alpine Research & Engineering, LLC (ARE) provides consulting and expert witness services to law firms and insurance companies.  Dr. Kimble J. Clark, Principal for ARE, is a Mechanical Engineer with specialization in the Thermosciences.  This broad technical field includes heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and combustion.  These disciplines are frequently used by Dr. Clark in Fire and Explosion investigations.

A primary focus of ARE is Origin and Cause Determination investigations, frequently involving explosions and fires.  Other investigation areas include equipment and system failures due to design and manufacturing defects or improper operation.

ARE investigates both large and small incidents and losses.  Large losses typically involve refineries, chemical plants, and powerplants.  Small losses include residential structures and smaller commercial operations.

Often ARE teams with other senior experts in the fields of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.  ARE also teams with Fire Scene Investigators and case specific Equipment Design and Manufacturing experts (for instance, engines, boilers, furnaces, valves, etc.).  Over the past fifty years, Dr. Clark has personally worked with dozens of experts and, as a result, has an extensive database of these proven experts.

Dr. Clark’s professional work career began in 1965.  Over the past fifty years, he has successfully completed hundreds of engineering and research investigations utilizing his Thermosciences expertise.  His projects have been balanced approximately 50/50 between Plaintiff and Defendant representation.  This ranges from large property and business interruption subrogation to personal injury claims.
